Hot off the press, you dear readers, have the first look at some fantastically funny cards (be prepared to laugh out loud).
Designed by long time friends and colleagues, Maryrose and Gabriela have five little kiddies between them and it is their real life experience being new parents that have inspired this line of cards.
Pursuing their paper passion
Both nurses by day (some times night) they both admittedly are crazy for stationery, “our passion for paper has been boarder line obsessive for about a lifetime.”
Once upon a time these two friends put up a sign that read “Real Engaging Designs (RED)” and began to take orders for wedding invitations. It wasn’t long before their own wedding bells rang and babies started arriving, and as in all good stories, our heroines took matters into their own hands and decided to take their passion for paper to the masses.
A card with a pocket
Calling Calgary, Alberta, home base, I had the pleasure of meeting both Maryrose and Gabby recently in a local coffee shop.
They were a delight! Kindred spirits we were as we mused over the lost art of putting pen to paper and the excitement we feel when something other than junk mail shows up in the mailbox.
In addition to launching the ‘Being Parents’ line of cards, they have an ingenious design of a card that has a pocket on the inside. In the pocket is a blank insert where you can write more (perfect for me who likes to ramble) or slipping in a gift card, a tea bag, or trinket would work just perfectly.
Humor is the secret to parenting
Ok, is anyone else laughing with me as you are reading these cards? Seriously gut bursting funny, especially for those of us who have traveled through the newborn and toddler phase….well actually the passed out by 10:00pm thing still applies to me. Ha!
What I love about these cards, is that they speak to the realness of parenting. Parenting can be a tough go, but if we keep our sense of humor not only will we survive, we will come to realize it is one of the most worthwhile jobs ever.
